How often should I replace the Suavinex Zero Zero teats, and how do I know when they need changing?

Teat replacement is one of the most overlooked aspects of bottle feeding, and using a teat past its safe working life is a genuine hygiene and safety risk — micro-tears in degraded silicone can harbour bacteria that are impossible to clean away, and a weakened teat can alter flow rate or collapse during feeding. Suavinex recommends replacing Zero Zero teats every 20–25 days, which may feel more frequent than expected but reflects the cumulative effect of daily sterilisation cycles on silicone heat stress gradually degrades the material even when the teat appears visually intact. Practical signs to replace a teat sooner include: any stickiness or tackiness to the silicone surface, visible thinning or discolouration, a change in the teat's feel or elasticity, or any visible damage or clouding. It is important to inspect the teat carefully before each use especially once your baby has teeth pulling the teat in different directions and discarding it immediately if you notice any signs of damage, weakness, or discolouration. A practical approach is to keep two sets of teats in rotation: one in use and one clean and ready. When you notice wear on the active set, swap them out and replace the worn set this prevents the situation where a teat needs replacing but you have nothing to hand. Note that the Zero Zero teat is only compatible with the Zero Zero bottle and is not interchangeable with other brands
